Clippers confirm Ingram will not be ready for the opener
Brandon Ingram will miss the start of the Los Angeles Clippers’ regular season as he recovers from heel surgery and a partially torn Achilles tendon, team executive Trent Redden said at Media Day on September 28.
The Associated Press reported that doctors discovered the partial tear during surgery on Ingram’s right heel in May. The Clippers did not announce a date for his return.
Ingram arrived from Toronto in the September trade involving Kawhi Leonard. His recovery means Los Angeles must begin the season before it can introduce the forward fully into its playing rotation.
He averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Raptors last season. Ingram indicated that he could take part in some camp activities, although his involvement would be limited.
Limited participation should not be read as clearance to play in games. The confirmed position is that he will miss the season’s start, with further team updates needed before a debut can be scheduled.
