Charlotte secures Miller before the new season
The Charlotte Hornets announced a multiyear contract extension for Brandon Miller on October 19 in the United States, securing one of their principal scorers before the 2026–27 NBA season. The announcement arrived on the morning of October 20 in the Philippines.
The club did not disclose financial terms. ESPN’s Shams Charania and other reporting outlets put the agreement at five years and $209 million, so the value remains a reported figure rather than an amount released by Charlotte.
Miller is entering his fourth NBA season after averaging 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists across 65 games in 2025–26. He also made a career-high 204 three-pointers, giving the Hornets a significant source of perimeter scoring as they reshape their roster.
Charlotte selected Miller second overall in the 2023 draft out of Alabama. He has made 166 regular-season appearances, including 160 starts, and has averaged 19 points per game over his first three seasons. His 2024–25 campaign was limited to 27 games by a right wrist injury.
The extension follows the offseason trade that sent LaMelo Ball to Minnesota. That change increases the importance of Miller’s scoring role, although the contract itself does not determine how Charlotte will distribute its possessions or minutes.
The Hornets open their regular season at Brooklyn on Wednesday, October 21, US time. Miller reaches that opening game with his longer-term contract settled and the immediate task of carrying his production into a new season.
