Memphis makes a pre-camp roster adjustment
The Memphis Grizzlies waived guard D’Angelo Russell and signed Brendan Hausen on September 25, making a roster change before the start of training camp.
Russell had arrived from Washington in a six-team transaction in July, according to Field Level Media. The waiver ends that spell in Memphis; the announcement did not identify his next destination.
The veteran’s résumé includes an All-Star selection with Brooklyn in 2019. Across 11 NBA seasons, he had averaged 17.0 points and 5.6 assists in 655 games, illustrating the experience represented by his departure.
Hausen gives Memphis a different kind of camp addition. Sports Illustrated’s Grizzlies coverage reported his agreement as an Exhibit 10 deal, a non-guaranteed training-camp contract rather than a guarantee of a place in the regular-season rotation.
This is a September 25 transaction being included in the latest roster roundup, not a newly announced September 29 trade. Any subsequent Russell signing would require a separate announcement, while Hausen’s immediate opportunity is to compete during Memphis’ preseason preparation.
