Chicago responds to opening defeat with a win in Milwaukee

Norman Powell scored 25 points and rookie Caleb Wilson added 21 as the Chicago Bulls beat the Milwaukee Bucks 132–125 in Milwaukee on Friday, October 23. The game was completed on October 24 in Philippine time.

The win gave Chicago a response to its 135–92 opening defeat in Toronto. Leonard Miller contributed 19 points, Jalen Smith had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Buddy Hield supplied another 13.

Tyler Herro led Milwaukee with 34 points. Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 19 points and 11 rebounds, with Kyle Kuzma scoring 14 and Myles Turner 12. The Bucks fell to 0–2 after also losing their opener in Washington.

The teams exchanged leads before Chicago secured the result with free throws in the closing stages. Powell’s scoring and the contributions behind him gave the Bulls enough offense to finish a much tighter contest than their first outing.

The game began four hours earlier than originally scheduled because the Milwaukee Brewers were hosting the opening game of the World Series that night, according to the Associated Press.

Both NBA teams face another game Saturday on the U.S. schedule. Chicago hosts Washington and Milwaukee visits Philadelphia. For the Bulls, the seven-point road win supplies an early recovery; the Bucks continue searching for their first result of the season.
