Philadelphia awaits an assessment after practice soreness
Tacko Fall experienced hip soreness during Philadelphia 76ers practice in Camden, New Jersey, on September 30, 2026, interrupting his attempt to earn a two-way contract. An evaluation was planned before the following day’s session, according to reporting attributed to PHLY’s Derek Bodner.
Coach Nick Nurse did not initially regard the problem as serious, PhillyVoice reported, but Fall’s availability for Thursday’s practice remained unclear. The reports did not establish a diagnosis or a confirmed period on the sidelines.
Fall is attending camp on a non-guaranteed agreement. That makes participation especially relevant to his roster prospects, with practice and preseason games offering opportunities to show how he fits Philadelphia’s needs at center. A camp invitation gives him that opportunity without settling whether he will remain with the team.
Philadelphia is also working around reserve center Adem Bona’s foot sprain. Nurse identified Bona and Fall as the two players who were not full participants in Wednesday’s session. The Sixer Sense noted that Joel Embiid and Ariel Hukporti were the available true centers on standard contracts at the start of camp.
The setback comes as Philadelphia prepares for its preseason opener against the Knicks on Monday, October 5, in the United States. Nurse said he hoped to give his starters some preseason action, although he had not committed to individual appearances. Fall’s next step is the medical assessment and an update on whether he can resume practice.
