Detroit takes control early in Philadelphia
Cade Cunningham scored 26 points as the Detroit Pistons beat the Philadelphia 76ers 106–93 at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Sunday, October 25, US time. Detroit improved to 3–0, while Philadelphia absorbed its first defeat and fell to 3–1.
Cunningham added eight rebounds and eight assists, giving the Pistons production beyond his scoring. Duncan Robinson supplied 21 points and five three-pointers, while John Collins finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Detroit established its advantage early. A 34–22 first quarter gave the visitors a 12-point cushion, and the teams each scored 22 points in the second period. The Pistons therefore carried a 56–44 lead into halftime rather than allowing Philadelphia to erase the opening damage.
The 76ers narrowed the difference slightly in the third, but Detroit entered the final period ahead 79–69 and outscored the hosts 27–24 over the last 12 minutes. The quarter-by-quarter pattern shows how the initial lead remained the foundation of the win.
Tyrese Maxey led Philadelphia with 29 points. LeBron James added 18, and Jaylen Brown scored 16, although Brown made five of his 20 field-goal attempts. Maxey's scoring kept pressure on the visitors without producing a full reversal.
Three-point shooting supplied another clear distinction. Detroit made 14 of 34 attempts from beyond the arc, compared with Philadelphia's seven of 27. The Pistons' seven additional made threes were worth 21 points, a substantial advantage in a game decided by 13.
The victory gave Detroit an early road result against an unbeaten Eastern Conference opponent. Three games remain a small sample, but the combination of Cunningham's playmaking, Robinson's shooting and Collins' rebounding gave the Pistons several ways to support their lead.
