Golden State reverses a disastrous start and controls the final quarter
Stephen Curry scored 31 points as the Golden State Warriors recovered from a 25-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 112–95 at Chase Center on October 30 in the United States, October 31 in the Philippines. Golden State opened its NBA Cup group campaign with a victory after a dramatic first-half reversal.
Los Angeles led 38–15 after the opening quarter. Golden State answered with the same 38–15 score in the second, leaving the teams tied at 53 at halftime. The matching quarter totals capture how quickly the Lakers' early control disappeared.
Curry made eight of his 14 three-point attempts and added six assists. Brandin Podziemski contributed 21 points, while De'Anthony Melton scored 16 and Georges Niang added 11.
Luka Dončić led Los Angeles with 37 points, seven rebounds and five assists. He made six three-pointers, but his scoring could not prevent Golden State from taking over the game after the opening period.
The Warriors carried an 85–80 lead into the fourth quarter and then outscored the Lakers 27–15. That final period converted a close contest into a 17-point result and completed a turnaround that required both scoring and stops.
Golden State finished the night 3–3, while Los Angeles fell to 4–2. The win also gave the Warriors an opening advantage in their NBA Cup group. Curry's shooting supplied the headline, but the decisive response was sustained across the last three quarters rather than confined to a brief run.
