Golden State survives a late rally in Minnesota’s first game without Edwards
Stephen Curry scored a season-high 44 points as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 119–114 at Target Center on Wednesday, October 28. Golden State secured its second consecutive victory after losing its first three games.
Rookie Yaxel Lendeborg added 26 points, giving the Warriors a major second scoring contribution alongside Curry. Minnesota was playing its first game without Anthony Edwards, who is scheduled for right-knee surgery.
Curry made six three-pointers and all 16 of his free throws. He finished 11 of 27 from the floor, adding eight rebounds and six assists. His scoring helped establish a lead that reached 24 points before Minnesota worked its way back into the contest.
The Timberwolves cut the deficit to 116–112 in the closing stretch. Jaden McDaniels missed two three-point attempts in the final minute, and Golden State retained enough of its advantage to complete the road win.
Jonathan Kuminga scored 20 against his former team, while McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. contributed 19 each. LaMelo Ball finished with eight points on three-of-11 shooting, including two of eight from beyond the arc.
The Warriors improved to 2–3. Minnesota fell to 3–2 after a second straight defeat, following its own three-game winning start. Both teams return to action on Friday, October 30, US time, with Golden State facing the Lakers and Minnesota meeting the Clippers.
