Jazz Set Four-Week Re-Evaluation for Jusuf Nurkić After Foot Injury

Utah confirms the injury and next medical review

The Utah Jazz said center Jusuf Nurkić will be re-evaluated in four weeks after sustaining a partial plantar plate tear of the second toe of his right foot. The official update was published by the NBA on October 8.

Nurkić suffered the injury during Utah’s first preseason game against the Denver Nuggets on October 4, the team said. The Jazz will provide another update after the scheduled assessment.

The four-week period is a re-evaluation timeline, not a confirmed return date. The announcement does not say he will be cleared to play immediately after that examination.

Nurkić averaged 10.9 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 41 games for Utah last season, making 36 starts. His absence removes an experienced rebounding and passing option while the Jazz prepare their frontcourt for the new campaign.

Sportsnet reported that Jaren Jackson Jr. and offseason signing Jaxson Hayes are among the available frontcourt alternatives. The medical release itself did not name a replacement starter or prescribe how Utah would redistribute Nurkić’s minutes. Those rotation decisions remain separate from his recovery timetable.

Utah’s next medical update will determine what can be said about his availability. No specific return game was identified in the release.
