Kelly Olynyk Reportedly Nears BC Roma Move After Spurs Season

Italian reports point to a new destination for the veteran

Kelly Olynyk has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with BC Roma, putting the veteran Canadian big man close to a move to Italy. Sportando reported the development on September 30, citing Superbasket, with RealGM carrying the news on October 1.

The distinction matters: the reporting describes an agreement in principle, rather than an independently verified club announcement completing the signing. BC Roma hopes to have Olynyk available for its October 11 derby against Maxima Roma, according to Sportando. That is a target, not a confirmed debut.

Olynyk, 35, spent last season with San Antonio. He averaged 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 8.6 minutes per game, according to RealGM. His NBA career spans 13 seasons and has also included Boston, Miami, Houston, Detroit, Utah, Toronto and New Orleans.

The forward-center would bring extensive top-level experience to his prospective new club. Sportando put his NBA career totals at 842 appearances, with averages of 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds.

The next substantive step is confirmation of a completed deal and his availability. Until then, both the move and the proposed debut remain framed by the reporting rather than a settled game schedule for the player.
