New York is among the teams monitoring the free-agent wing
The New York Knicks are among the teams interested in free-agent forward Dalton Knecht following his release by the Los Angeles Lakers, according to an October 22 report from SNY. The report became available during the October 23 news cycle in the Philippines.
SNY's Ian Begley and Ben Krimmel cited league sources familiar with Knecht's market. Their report establishes interest rather than a completed transaction: no Knicks contract, agreement or arrival date was confirmed.
Knecht, 25, was selected 17th overall in the 2024 NBA draft. He averaged 4.2 points in 54 appearances last season, and SNY reported that he remains eligible to sign a two-way contract.
That eligibility does not establish the terms of a possible New York deal. SNY noted that the Knicks already had three players on two-way contracts, while a standard roster position remained available. Any eventual agreement would need to fit the team's roster arrangements.
Minnesota has also been linked with Knecht. Marc Stein reported Timberwolves interest, a separate development referenced in coverage of the forward's expanding market.
For readers following roster moves, the distinction between interest and a signing is the central point. Teams can examine a free agent without making an offer, and an available roster spot does not guarantee that a particular player will fill it.
Knecht's next destination therefore remained unresolved in the reporting checked for this article. A team announcement or a clearly attributed agreement report would be the next material development.
