Rookie leads Golden State to its fourth consecutive victory
Yaxel Lendeborg scored a career-high 37 points as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 124–112 at Chase Center on November 1 in the United States, November 2 in the Philippines. Golden State won its fourth consecutive game while Stephen Curry and Draymond Green rested.
The rookie shot 13-for-19 from the field and 6-for-11 from three-point range, finishing with six assists, four rebounds and only two turnovers. His production gave the Warriors an efficient primary scoring option without their usual veteran leaders.
De’Anthony Melton provided 21 points and made six of his eight three-point attempts. Brandin Podziemski added 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, while Brandon Williams scored 17 off the bench. Golden State finished with 22 made threes and 32 assists.
The Clippers led 37–29 after the first quarter, but the Warriors outscored them 34–20 in the second to take control. Golden State then won each of the remaining two quarters, turning an early deficit into a 12-point victory.
Rui Hachimura scored 24 points for Los Angeles. Kris Dunn recorded seven steals, but that defensive disruption was not enough to offset Golden State’s shooting. The Warriors made 53.5 percent of their field-goal attempts and moved to 4–3, while the Clippers fell to 1–5.
Lendeborg supplied the largest individual contribution, but the result also depended on production around him. Melton’s outside shooting and Podziemski’s distribution helped Golden State maintain an effective offense on a night when Curry was unavailable.
