Andrew Wiggins Welcomes Klay Thompson Reunion as Miami Begins New Season

Former Warriors teammates bring shared experience to Miami

Andrew Wiggins has welcomed the chance to play with Klay Thompson again as the Miami Heat prepare for the new season. Speaking to ClutchPoints after training camp in Boca Raton on October 1, Wiggins described the value of reuniting with a teammate with whom he won an NBA championship.

Wiggins and Thompson were part of Golden State’s 2022 title team. In the interview, published October 2, Wiggins pointed to their shared experience of the work and setbacks involved in winning that championship. He said they now have the opportunity to go through that process together in Miami.

The reunion adds familiarity within a Heat team undergoing substantial change. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s arrival is the larger roster development, while Wiggins and Thompson bring an existing working relationship to the group assembling around him.

The Heat open against Toronto in Québec City on October 3, with tip-off at 7 a.m. Philippine time on October 4.
