Boozer contributes across the box score
Cameron Boozer recorded 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in his Memphis Grizzlies preseason debut, helping the visitors beat Atlanta 132–123 at State Farm Arena on October 5 US time, October 6 in the Philippines.
Boozer started alongside Jaylen Wells, Quinten Post, Cedric Coward and Ty Jerome. He played 18 minutes and 15 seconds, giving Memphis an early look at his work within a starting group rather than only in late-game reserve minutes.
His finishing inside the three-point line was particularly effective. Boozer made five of nine shots overall and missed all three of his three-point attempts. Subtracting those attempts leaves a five-for-six performance on two-point shots. He also collected three offensive rebounds, accounting for most of his five boards.
The passing numbers offered another useful part of the evaluation. Boozer registered four assists with one turnover, while Coward also supplied four assists and Jerome added five. Memphis finished with 32 assists, spreading its creation across several players.
There were clear areas to improve alongside the productive debut. Boozer went one for three at the foul line and did not make a three-pointer. One short preseason appearance cannot establish how those shooting numbers will develop over a full schedule.
Memphis won through balanced scoring rather than a high-volume individual performance. Boozer’s contribution fit that pattern, combining scoring, extra possessions and passing during a game in which no Grizzlies player reached 15 points.
