Minnesota’s perimeter scoring keeps New York behind

Anthony Edwards scored 26 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the New York Knicks 122–104 at Madison Square Garden on Monday, October 12. The result arrived on Tuesday, October 13, Philippine time and moved Minnesota to 3–1 in preseason, while New York fell to 0–3.

Jaden McDaniels added 22 points to give the Timberwolves a second major scoring threat. Edwards returned after sitting out the previous game for rest and made eight of his 16 field-goal attempts, including five of eight from three-point range. He also supplied three rebounds, three assists and a steal in 25 minutes.

Minnesota built its advantage before halftime. The Timberwolves led 30–25 after the opening quarter and 62–50 at the break, with Edwards contributing 20 first-half points. Their early outside shooting forced New York to chase the game rather than settle into a close contest.

The Knicks briefly reduced the deficit to 77–72 in the third quarter, but Minnesota took a 90–80 lead into the final period. A 32–24 fourth quarter then pushed the final margin to 18 points.

Jalen Brunson led New York with 20 points in 22 minutes, shooting six of 13 from the field. OG Anunoby added 15. LaMelo Ball finished with 10 points and seven assists for Minnesota, alongside five turnovers in 22 minutes.

The shooting gap remained substantial over the full game. Minnesota hit 18 of 34 three-pointers; New York made eight of 32.

For Edwards, this was a third straight double-figure scoring performance in his preseason appearances and his longest outing of the exhibition schedule so far. New York’s next scheduled game is against Toronto on Tuesday, October 13, in the United States.
