Jackson makes the most of a short appearance
GG Jackson led the Memphis Grizzlies with 14 points in just over 15 minutes as their bench helped secure a 132–123 preseason victory over the Atlanta Hawks on October 5 US time, October 6 in the Philippines.
Jackson made five of seven field-goal attempts at State Farm Arena, including two of four from three-point range. He added two free throws, two rebounds, an assist and a steal, and was not charged with a turnover during his 15 minutes and 37 seconds on court.
His shot distribution explains the efficiency. All three of his two-point attempts went in, while the two three-pointers supplied six of his 14 points. Memphis did not need to give him an extended workload for him to finish as its leading scorer.
Other reserves supported the result. Jerami Grant and Scotty Pippen Jr. each scored 10 points. Cam Spencer and Javon Small added eight apiece, and Taylor Hendricks contributed seven points, six rebounds and three steals.
Those contributions came in a game with unusually broad preseason rotations. Eighteen Memphis players appeared, and the starting group also shared the scoring: Jaylen Wells and Ty Jerome had 12 points each, Cameron Boozer 11, Cedric Coward nine and Quinten Post eight.
Jackson’s performance therefore provides an individual positive without establishing a regular-season pecking order. The concrete takeaway is that he converted a limited set of opportunities efficiently while Memphis distributed both minutes and shots across its roster.
