McCain Hits Six Threes as Thunder Edge Pacers 114–112 in Overtime

McCain’s shooting helps Oklahoma City finish a close contest

Jared McCain scored 20 points and made six three-pointers as the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers 114–112 in overtime at Paycom Center on Tuesday, October 13. The preseason game finished on Wednesday morning, October 14, in the Philippines.

Tyrese Haliburton led Indiana with 24 points in just under 18 minutes, making nine of his 14 shots and four of six attempts from three-point range. His efficient scoring helped the Pacers establish an early advantage, but Oklahoma City recovered and the teams finished regulation tied at 100–100.

Indiana won the first quarter 33–25 and led 61–59 at halftime. The Thunder moved ahead 85–84 after three quarters before a low-scoring fourth period sent the game into overtime. Oklahoma City then outscored the visitors 14–12 in the extra five minutes.

McCain supplied his 20 points in 18 minutes and 49 seconds, with all six of his field goals coming from beyond the arc. Jalen Williams added 16 points, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 15 and six assists after making five of six shots. Aday Mara contributed 10 points and three blocks off the bench. Zhaire Smith scored seven points on three-for-three shooting in his five-minute appearance.

Ivica Zubac gave Indiana 13 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, and Kelly Oubre Jr. added 12 points. Jay Huff scored 11, including three three-pointers. Pascal Siakam finished with six points on two-for-11 shooting.

Both teams made 43 field goals and 14 three-pointers. Oklahoma City’s two-point advantage came at the free-throw line, where it made 14 attempts to Indiana’s 12. The Thunder also converted Indiana’s mistakes into 33 points off turnovers, according to the NBA’s game summary.

The result belongs to the exhibition schedule and does not affect the regular-season standings. For Indiana, Haliburton’s production and Zubac’s work inside were positives despite the loss; for Oklahoma City, McCain’s outside shooting stood out in a game that required contributions beyond the starting lineup.
