Love contributes as a scorer and passer
Caleb Love scored 15 points and handed out six assists off the bench in Philadelphia’s 120–97 preseason win over the New York Knicks at Xfinity Mobile Arena on October 5 US time, October 6 in the Philippines.
Love played 23 minutes and 33 seconds, giving him one of the longer appearances in the Sixers’ rotation. He added three rebounds and two blocks, and the final box score did not charge him with a turnover.
Three-point shooting accounted for much of his scoring. Love made three of six attempts from beyond the arc, supplying nine of his 15 points. He finished four for 10 overall and added four free throws from six attempts.
The six assists made his appearance more than a shooting contribution. Only VJ Edgecombe, with seven, had more for Philadelphia. Together, the two guards recorded 13 assists without a turnover, supporting an offense that finished with 29 assists on 41 field goals.
Love was one of several reserves to produce meaningful numbers. Jabari Walker had 11 points and 11 rebounds, Saint Thomas added 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Dillon Jones finished with 11 points and six boards.
LeBron James, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey did not play, leaving extra preseason possessions available across the roster. Love used his time to provide both perimeter scoring and passing. The appearance strengthens the evidence available to Philadelphia’s coaches without confirming a regular-season roster spot or fixed rotation role.
