Ja Morant Faces Four-Week Reassessment After Hamstring Strain

Portland confirms the diagnosis after Morant leaves the Memphis game

Ja Morant will be re-evaluated in four weeks after imaging confirmed a Grade 2 strain in his left hamstring, the Portland Trail Blazers announced on October 30 in the United States, October 31 in the Philippines. The injury occurred during Portland's game against the Memphis Grizzlies the previous evening.

Morant left that contest in the fourth quarter after scoring 14 points in 23 minutes. Memphis won 124–103, handing Portland its first defeat after three victories to open the season.

The reassessment date is the next announced medical checkpoint. It is not a confirmed date for Morant to return to games, and the team has not supplied a specific comeback fixture.

Through his first four appearances for Portland, Morant averaged 15.8 points and 5.5 assists, shooting 54.2 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three-point range. Those figures describe a productive opening spell, although four games remain a small sample.

His absence interrupts the early work of a backcourt that also includes Damian Lillard. Portland will need to redistribute ball-handling and creation while Morant is unavailable, rather than assume the same combinations can continue unchanged.

The immediate issue is availability over the coming weeks. Any assessment of the injury's longer-term effect on Portland should remain separate from the team's confirmed diagnosis and review timetable.
