MRI gives Orlando a clearer diagnosis after Suggs leaves Knicks game
The Orlando Magic announced on Monday, October 26, that Jalen Suggs has a mild bone bruise in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. The update followed an MRI after the guard was hurt during Sunday's 111–102 victory over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Orlando said the scan showed no other structural damage. That finding establishes the nature of the injury after Suggs' right knee buckled as he went up for a fourth-quarter layup, forcing him out of the game. The team released its update early Tuesday morning, October 27, Philippine time.
The two-week period is a checkpoint for another medical assessment, not a promise that Suggs will play immediately afterwards. Orlando has not announced a firm date for his return to competition.
Suggs' absence creates another opening in a backcourt that relies on his ball pressure and ability to contribute at both ends. The Magic are also adjusting to an extended absence for Paolo Banchero following an ankle injury, placing more responsibility on the remaining rotation.
Sunday's result was Orlando's first win of the season after two defeats. It delivered a much-needed result on the road, but Suggs' departure prevented the team from leaving New York with its health outlook unchanged. The next confirmed step is his reassessment, with subsequent availability dependent on how his knee responds.
