Arsenal Beat Lille 3–0 to Continue Winning Champions League Start

A seven-minute scoring burst breaks Lille’s resistance

Arsenal defeated Lille 3–0 at the Emirates Stadium on October 13, scoring three times in seven second-half minutes to maintain their winning start in the Champions League. Philippine viewers saw the result completed early on October 14.

Jurrien Timber broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, controlling Noni Madueke’s delivery before lifting his finish over the goalkeeper. Eberechi Eze added a second in the 67th, and Bukayo Saka made it three in the 71st.

Saka had entered as a substitute after the opening goal. He supplied the pass for Eze’s slightly deflected finish and then scored himself following a move involving Martin Ødegaard and Kai Havertz. His introduction helped turn a narrow advantage into a comfortable lead.

The final score concealed a more patient opening hour. Lille held Arsenal scoreless in the first half, while the home side failed to convert earlier opportunities. Once Timber scored, the visitors could not prevent the rapid sequence that followed.

Arsenal also restricted Lille at the other end. The visitors finished without a shot on target, while Arsenal registered eight from 16 attempts according to the published match statistics.

The result followed Arsenal’s 1–0 opening victory at Napoli, giving them six points from two league-phase games without conceding. Lille remained without a point after losing their opener to Real Betis and are scheduled to host Galatasaray on October 21.
