Tresoldi’s three goals put Brugge in control at San Siro
Club Brugge defeated Inter 4–3 at San Siro on October 13, with Nicolò Tresoldi scoring a hat-trick in the second round of Champions League league-phase matches. The seven-goal game finished early on October 14, Philippine time.
Tresoldi opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 30th minute. Lautaro Martínez equalised in the 44th, leaving the sides level at halftime and Inter still in position to change the course of the match.
The visitors moved ahead again through Tresoldi in the 63rd minute, and he completed his hat-trick in the 74th. Those two second-half goals turned a 1–1 game into a 3–1 advantage for Brugge.
Martínez reduced the deficit with his second goal in the 81st minute. Substitute Romeo Vermant restored the visitors’ two-goal cushion six minutes later, however, before Ange-Yoan Bonny made it 4–3 in the third minute of stoppage time.
Vermant’s contribution proved essential to the final margin. Without that late fourth goal, Bonny’s finish would have drawn Inter level; instead, Brugge retained their lead through the closing minutes.
The result left Inter without a point from their first two league-phase matches, following an opening defeat at Real Madrid. Their next European fixture is at home to Shakhtar Donetsk on October 21, while Club Brugge are scheduled to host Lens that day.
