Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz settle a close contest in Paris
Paris Saint-Germain defeated Barcelona 4–2 at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, October 20, after two late goals settled a Champions League match in which the visitors twice equalized. The result kept PSG unbeaten after three league-phase games.
Désiré Doué put the home side ahead before halftime. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García made several saves during a demanding opening period, keeping the visitors within one goal at the break.
Xavi Espart brought Barcelona level early in the second half. The young defender’s finish changed the score to 1–1 and gave Hansi Flick’s side a route back into a match PSG had initially controlled.
Lucas Hernández restored the French club’s advantage with a header. Barcelona responded again through Lamine Yamal, whose finish made it 2–2 as the contest moved into its closing stages.
The final response came from PSG. Vitinha controlled the ball on his chest before scoring to put the hosts ahead for the third time. Fabián Ruiz then converted Achraf Hakimi’s delivery to complete the scoring and remove the prospect of another Barcelona equalizer.
PSG finished the night with nine points from three matches. Barcelona stayed on six points after winning its first two league-phase fixtures, against Feyenoord and Galatasaray. The defeat ended that perfect European start without undoing the points already collected.
UEFA named Doué player of the match. Barcelona’s attention now turns back to domestic competition, with the next Clásico against Real Madrid approaching after a demanding European trip.
